Born in the 80s, since the early age of two years Mariano Barba, son of an artistic family: his father, Gennaro Barba, has always been the drummer of "Osanna" the historical Progressive Rock band; is passionate about the sound of the drum set. In fact, a few years later, at 9 years old, he starts to attend, together with his father, clubs where performing artists of the caliber of Antonio Onorato, a famous Neapolitan jazzman, exactly in those situations he will be able to meet the greatest Neapolitan jazz players: Marco and Rino Zurzolo, Daniele Sepe, Angelo and Aldo Farias and many others. Furthermore, at age of 11, Mariano take part in a famous music TV contest "Grand Prix" hosted by the famous Italian anchorman Pippo Baudo. Some month later, Mariano meets Chick Corea, on tour in Italy with his Electric Band, during the concert’s rehearsals, Corea welcomes Mariano’s request to perform with drums, remaining strongly impressed (Mariano Barba knows by heart all the Chick Corea songs, being an avid fan of Dave Weckl). after that Chick and Mariano become pen pal friends for years, something extraordinary! They write each other continuously, just to tell anything comes in their mind, then a solid friendship and esteem is born, so much so that Chick Corea decide to write in his own hand a recommendation note in Mariano’s benefit. In 1995 Mariano makes its first appearance at a trade show: The DISMA MUSIC SHOW, as a demonstrator for UFIP, then with his father begins to attending various musical instruments trade shows, Mariano does not hesitate to check out the several drum set exposed, and in one of such occasion he is noticed by Tullio Granatello, known as the inventor of TAMBURO drums, Tullio gives him a drum set and an endorsement deal. In 2014 Mariano acquires the endorsement of Vater brand, becoming in the meantime, part of the family of Gold Music artists. The collaboration with Gold Music flows in 2016 with the choice of Mariano as Sakae testimonial.
