Sakae Artist: Steve Gibson

Steve Gibson began playing drums at the age of 15 in local bands and by the age of 18 was playing in a band called Monroe who signed to Polydor. A couple of singles and a tour with Manchester band Sad Café followed.

Then came Heartland with the band recording a great album for A&M plus tours; one of which was Billy Sheehan’s Mr Big.

After that, Steve toured in the U.K. and Europe with Ian McNabb (Icicle Works) promoting the album ‘Truth and Beauty’ - this included TV and radio sessions. In 1992, Steve played with Buzzcocks, touring Singapore, New Zealand and Australia then went back to playing drums with McNabb.

I love playing my Sakae Drums; that beautiful vintage sound that works so well with the music I play and the dependability of modern manufacturing - nothing comes close for me. It's an honour to get behind these drums and play.

More recently, Steve has been playing with The Norman Beaker Band. They tour around Europe, taking in France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Spain and more recently Croatia and Serbia playing with this tight Blues band.

Steve has worked with some great artists including Chris Farlowe, Van Morrison, Maggie Bell (Stone The Crows), Jack Bruce, Larry Garner and Madeleine Bell.
